New Works Showcase 2024: Reflections

by ATC's Professional Ensemble

June 7 - 9, 2024 | 7pm

6601 Hamilton Ave.

Peer into the scrying pool of reflection with ATC's New Works Showcase 2024: Reflections. This year's wave of featured creators is making a splash with the premiere of four new works, each with a unique perspective on this exhibiting theme.

The No Luck by James Perry
All things love, and all things lust. When you’re having a good time, and you don’t know when it will end, does it matter? The No Luck takes a look into one’s decision to continue down a path of thrill and uncertainty, all for the experience and sweet song. It makes you ask yourself how much are you willing to take before you put yourself first? When you get to the truth, will it hurt you so much to stop? Or was the journey what made it worth it in the first place.

This One's For Me by Maliq Cunningham
This One's For Me starts at the end of a journey and goes into a new one, going from a bad time to a good one. It is a reminder that there is always good vibes around, so don’t let anything keep you down. You got you always... and beautiful women help too.

Butter, fly by Destiny Nwafor
“Butter, fly” is a theatrical dance project showcasing the transition from Black girlhood to womanhood with the aim to center and humanize our experiences.

To Be Happy by Emmanuel Key
To Be Happy is an interactive journey that posits "what is community identity?" and "what does it take to preserve collective happiness?". During times of great divisiveness it is important to rally with those whose identities and ideologies support one's well-being, guiding a community to a safe place somewhere between fact and truth. Maybe we'll find a way to move forward toward happiness together, whatever means necessary.
Immerse yourself in the ripples of self-reflection and contemplation with these and additional performances from ATC's Professional Ensemble members.
